About the Artist
Cherrie LaPorte

For more than 30 years, Cherrie LaPorte has cultivated a distinctive artistic voice through glass, mosaic, sculpture, and mixed media. Originally beginning her creative journey in North County San Diego and now based in Port Angeles, Washington, her work continues to evolve through an intimate connection to nature, texture, light, and transformation.

Inspired by the forests, shoreline, and shifting atmosphere of the Pacific Northwest, Cherrie creates contemporary mixed-media sculptures and immersive artworks that blur the boundaries between nature and imagination. Working intuitively, she combines fused and stained glass, mosaic, ceramics, stone, wood, metal, and reclaimed materials to build unusual sculptural forms that feel both organic and discovered.

Her work ranges from luminous wall pieces to large-scale installations and outdoor sculptures designed to interact with natural light and surrounding landscape. Rich in texture and movement, each piece explores themes of growth, memory, resilience, and hidden beauty—inviting viewers into a world that feels at once grounded in nature and quietly otherworldly.

Cherrie’s artwork has been collected internationally and installed in private residences, gardens, libraries, hospitals, and public spaces. Alongside her studio practice, she has spent many years teaching fused glass and mosaic art, sharing her passion with students of all ages and encouraging creative exploration through hands-on experience.

Now working from her forest studio on Blue Mountain in Port Angeles, Cherrie continues to expand her artistic practice through public art, sculptural environments, and innovative mixed-media collections inspired by the wild beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
